Here you will find some of the hottest arts and entertainment events happening in the DC Metropolitan area tonight – whether you are just hanging with the girls/guys tonight, or just want to get out of the house, come here to find out what’s going down tonight!
In Dance and Theater, the event that I think is a must-see for tonight is the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater company being featured at The Kennedy Center!
(Quoted from the Kennedy Center Website) “One of the world’s favorite dance companies, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater returns to show off the brilliant artistry and passionate energy that bring audiences around the globe to their feet night after night. What makes this phenomenal company so special is the incomparable dancers and the sense of joy, freedom, and spirit that the dancers and audiences share. Discover for yourself what millions of fans already know–you don’t just seean Ailey performance, you feel it.
As part of these mixed repertory programs, the company performs Revelations, an enduring classic that has been seen by more audiences around the world than any other modern dance. “The crowd starts cheering before the curtain goes up” (The New York Times). This tribute to Ailey’s African American heritage uses traditional spirituals to explore the places of deepest grief and holiest joy in the human soul.”

In Music, for those who live close to the DC/Maryland line, an event that I think jazz lovers who are interested should definitely check out is Takoma Station’s Tavern Jazz Jam Session, held every Tuesday!
(Here is what the Washington Post had to say about this event and venue in it’s Going Out Guide) “The historic music venue has hosted the weekly sessions since October 2010, with a rotating roster of musicians led by bass player Raymond Magic and emceed by Takoma Station’s own Lydia Williams.”
